Corporate Services Portfolio Committee visits key Municipal facilities in Mamre and Atlantis

The City of Cape Town’s Corporate Services Portfolio Committee (CRSPC), led by Chairperson Councillor Fabian Ah-Sing and councillor representatives from five political parties, conducted a series of oversight visits on Friday, 24 April 2026. The delegation visited the Mamre Municipal Building, the Wesfleur Municipal Building and the Saxonsea Subcouncil Office in Atlantis to assess the overall state of these facilities and ensure they meet the City's high standards for service delivery.
‘The Corporate Services Portfolio Committee is committed to ensuring excellent service delivery to all residents of Cape Town. In the past, we have visited facilities in Gordon's Bay, Somerset West, Delft, Gugulethu and Fish Hoek, to name a few. Last week we visited Atlantis. The first thing that we do when we arrive at these facilities is to check that the services are up to scratch and if not we highlight those concerns and then we put in place action plans to ensure that those concerns are addressed. The aim is to ensure that the services you receive in Atlantis are the same as those you receive in Milnerton for example,’ said the Chairperson of the Corporate Services Portfolio Committee, Councillor Fabian Ah-Sing.
At the Mamre Municipal Building: The committee identified a need for clearer signage to assist residents in navigating the facility. Discussions centred on optimising space usage following the migration of the Revenue Department and the Traffic Operational Team. Plans are underway for continued regular security patrols and the temporary housing of critical City departments therein. The delegation also recommended the refurbishment of the interior, particularly the boardroom, with new furniture to better serve the community and councillors.
At the Wesfleur Municipal Building: The committee commended the cleanliness and efficiency of this multi-functional municipal service centre. Plans are afoot to install reliable network infrastructure, including upgraded data points and secure connectivity. The outdoor Nelson Mandela Square is also scheduled for a revamp and relaunch in October 2026.
At the Saxonsea Subcouncil: The visit concluded at the newly built municipal services building. While the committee noted that internal passages could have been wider for better flow, they praised the professional layout and the high quality of services provided to the community.
‘The insights and constructive feedback received are of great importance to the City, as they strengthen our resolve to continuously enhance our performance and uphold the highest standards of accountability. We remain committed to working collaboratively to advance the strategic objectives of the Corporate Services Directorate and serve the best interests of our communities,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Corporate Services, Alderman Theresa Uys.
